ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s (PTI) corner meeting on Friday night was reportedly targeted by unknown persons in Adnan Market of Sector G-11, no casualties or injuries were reported.
According to the police, the incident took place during NA-54 candidate Asad Umar speech, whereas, the party workers and candidates remained safe.
The PTI vice president of Islamabad chapter Farid-ur-Rehman also confirmed that Asad Umar and other party members were safe. However, he said that this kind of violent behavior cannot be tolerated.
A large number of PTI workers went to the police station for the registration of First Information Report (FIR). The members resorted to chanting slogans as well.
The superintendent of police (SP) Saddar Zone informed that the site of the incident has been cordoned off for the general public and the investigation has begun.
He asserted that these kind of incidents are common during poll days, the only aim of the suspects was to spread fear among the party workers.
