LAHORE – Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman Siddiqul Farooq has said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has promised full support to help end illegal occupation of the board lands.
Talking to reporters after the board meeting held here on Friday, he said the meeting unanimously passed a resolution, strongly condemning the land-grabbing mafia. He said the meeting also welcomed and appreciated the support extended by the prime minister.
The ETPB chairman said that the board was also getting cooperation from the four chief ministers as well as help from the police at district level to reclaim its lands under illegal occupation all across country. He said that laws on agricultural and urban lands needed reforms.
A draft in this regard has been placed before the board meeting for discussion, and new laws would be enacted after fulfilling the legal requirements.
A five-member committee has been constituted under the supervision of Chaudhry Bashir, which will prepare a report on land occupation trends and the laws to deal with land grabbers and present it to the board for approval.
