KARACHI: The Sindh government has directed the officials of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to stop harassing officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).
In a letter to the Director General (DG) KDA, Local Government Housing Town Planning Department, the Sindh government asked the DG KDA to take strict action against the involved officers in this regard.
Riaz Ahmed Shar section officer said he received complaints from KMC officers regarding harassment and forbidding them from their routine office work by KDA officials.
He asked the DG for taking action against involved officers of his department and should try to resolve the prevailing problems, which were creating agony for KMC employments.
KDA administration transferred around 213 employees of KMC to report back to their mother department for salaries and official responsibilities and on this pretext, KMC employees went to Sindh High Court for the resolution of their problems.
A meeting was held under the chairmanship of additional secretary local government department in his office on August 1, 2016, During a Transition Committee meeting chaired by Local Government Additional Secretary Ghulam Abbas Dahto. He opined that the attitude of KDA official is not pleasant towards KMC officials. He said deprivation of the office to mayor or administrator of Karachi by any mean not fair as these offices were the face of the city and several delegates-foreign or local meet these two heads of city. He said the matter would be referred to local government secretary for final resolution.
Taking any sort of action would be wrong step in this regard, warned Dahto. The KDA officials should keep them away from taking any action till decision of Transition Committee was taken.
KMC officer Jawaid Rahim, senior Director (HRM), Rehan Khan, senior Director (F&A) KMC and Toufiq Soomro, Secretary KDA, Liaquat Khan Divisional Accounts Officer (F&A) KDA, Mukarram Sultan Bukhari, Consultant KDA (Cntractual Employee) also attended the meeting.
KMC presented the list of department’s employees in the meeting who were disturbed by the KDA officials. KMC also put list of vehicles being used the officials after devolution of powers, claims of assets and liabilities in detail.
Some of the KMC offices were shifted on the directives of former Nazim Karachi Naimatullah Khan. Vacating of Administration Office by KDA also came under discussion in the meeting.
