KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday lashed out at Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for his alleged corruption, and called him the son of military dictator Ziaul Haq.
Addressing a press conference, Bilawal came down hard on Nawaz Sharif and Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and said that they were actually the premier and interior minister of the Taliban and banned terror outfits. “The country can no longer be run without accountability,” he said, adding that democracy was not just meant for parliament but also for the economic system.
To a question regarding the current political turmoil, Bilawal put forward two solutions to tackle the situation. In the first place, he suggested that his four-point charter of demands should be met, and in the second place, the coverage of ongoing chaos should be stopped, as “it will automatically put an end to this melodrama”.
Bilawal professed that maintaining the rule of law was the responsibility of the state, and everybody should be allowed to exercise his/her democratic right. He said that the interior minister should resign, as his actions were sending mixed signals to the world.
The PPP leader revealed that conspiracies against the country had started since the day the country came into being, however, as a politician it was “my duty to protect my country against every kind of conspiracy”.
